# Drones Attack Voronezh, Killing Two and Injuring 17

*Russian air defenses reported downing over 70 drones during the overnight assault.*

**Scores for the source reporting** (0-100, assessing the original journalism this article was written from, not this write-up):

- Trust 68 of 100, higher is better. Trust 68: multiple independent digests cite Governor Alexander Gusev and give specific figures with source attribution.
- Craft 67 of 100, higher is better. Critic 67: clear facts, specific numbers and dates, but lacks quotes and explanation of significance.
- Hype 45 of 100, lower is better. Hype 45: headlines are sensational, yet the digest content remains measured and factual.

**The short version**

- Ukrainian drones attacked Voronezh on the night of 26 October 2026.
- Targets included an aircraft manufacturing plant, a petrochemical plant, and the Northern Bridge.
- Two people were killed and 17 were injured, including a child.
- Russian air defenses reported shooting down 113 drones, with over 70 downed over the city.

The Russian city of Voronezh was subjected to a large-scale drone attack on the night of 26 October 2026. Reports indicate that the targets included the VASO aircraft factory, the Voronezhsintezkauchuk petrochemical plant, and the Northern Bridge, a significant road artery. The attack resulted in two fatalities and 17 injuries, with one of the injured being a child. Governor Alexander Gusev of Voronezh Region stated that Russian air defenses intercepted 113 drones, with more than 70 being shot down over the city itself.

## Disagreement on Train Attack

One unrated report stated that the football players of Moscow Locomotiva were on a passenger train attacked by Ukrainian drones near Voronezh, with five people injured. This detail was not mentioned in any other report.

## What the coverage left out

None of the left or right-rated reports mentioned the detail about a passenger train carrying football players being attacked near Voronezh. No centre-rated outlet ran this story.

## Who covered it

Shares of the 46 covering outlets with a published leaning rating:

- Left: 35% (16)
- Centre: 32% (15)
- Right: 33% (15)

62 of 108 covering outlets carried no usable leaning rating and were excluded from those percentages. Coverage measured 2026-10-26T21:41:52.471Z.

**Coverage watch:** developing. Checked 5 times; 2 checks found a material change. Most recently checked 2026-10-26T21:45:27.431Z.

## How the sides framed it

### Left

- Left-rated outlets identified the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association (VASO) and the Voronezhsintezkauchuk synthetic rubber plant as targets. United24 reported that VASO produces components for various aircraft, while Voronezhsintezkauchuk belongs to Sibur and makes materials for industrial use.
- Several outlets noted that Voronezhsintezkauchuk produces rubber for military applications, including for "Iskander" missiles. Some reports also mentioned strikes on the Northern Bridge and a business centre.
- Reports indicated that Russian air defenses destroyed 113 drones over the Voronezh region, with over 70 shot down over the city itself. Some outlets mentioned damage to a passenger train and residential buildings.

### Centre

- Five of the twelve centre‑rated digests led with the casualty count, stating that two people were killed and seventeen were injured. La Libre, WTVB, TF1 INFO, The Moscow Times and Lietuvos Radijas each placed those figures at the start of their summary.
- The digests added that the attack occurred in Voronezh, a city about 500 km south of Moscow, and quoted regional governor Alexander Gusev (or Gossev) as confirming the numbers. WTVB noted a child among the injured and said air‑defence systems shot down 113 drones. Euronews mentioned debris striking a commuter train, while the Kyiv Independent described multiple explosions, thick smoke and residents hearing no air‑raid sirens.
- Only WTVB reported the exact number of drones destroyed, and only that outlet mentioned a child victim. Sud Ouest and TF1 INFO were the sole centre digests to refer to upcoming peace talks in November under U.S. mediation. The remaining centre outlets omitted these details.

### Right

- The right-rated report from EADaily focused on the "massive attack on Voronezh" and stated that "the U.S.A. aimed at an aircraft plant (the Voronezh Stock Company (WASO PAO))..." and the bridge.

**Provisional coverage gap:** right. The watch is not closed, so this is not yet a settled blindspot finding.
