**The short version**

- The UK will send an additional batch of Storm Shadow long-range missiles to Ukraine.
- The exact quantity of missiles being supplied has not been disclosed by the UK.
- Storm Shadow missiles are capable of striking targets over 250 kilometres away.
- The UK has been supplying these missiles to Ukraine since 2023.

The United Kingdom is to supply Ukraine with a further consignment of Storm Shadow long-range missiles. The UK has been providing these weapons to Ukraine since 2023. The missiles have a range of more than 250 kilometres. The exact number of missiles to be delivered has not been disclosed.

## Disagreement on missile details

Novinky.cz reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed replenishing the country's stock of these missiles with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham during a visit to London. Bloomberg, cited by Novinky.cz, reported that individuals familiar with the situation, who wished to remain anonymous, announced the additional delivery. Babel.ua, in a digest, stated that the UK will deliver a new batch of Storm Shadow missiles, but the quantity is not yet known.

## What the coverage left out

None of the reports below mention the UK's pledge to provide over 5,000 lightweight multi-purpose rockets worth $2.12 billion over four years, which was reported by Novinky.cz. The digest from Babel.ua did not include details about the UK's stance on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons against Russian targets, nor did it mention the additional air defence missile supplies or the UK's push for stricter sanctions on Russian LNG.

## How the sides framed it

### Left

- The left-rated report from Novinky.cz led with the UK's decision to send more Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine. It stated that the UK considers Ukraine's use of long-range weapons against Russian targets involved in attacks on civilian infrastructure as a defensive measure. The report noted this stance contrasts with pressure from Washington for Kyiv to halt drone attacks on Russian oil refineries. Novinky.cz also detailed that the UK pledged to provide over 5,000 lightweight multi-purpose rockets worth $2.12 billion over four years, and additional air-to-air missiles valued at $59.7 million, with a portion designated for urgent winter air defence needs. The outlet also mentioned the UK is urging partners to tighten sanctions and ban maritime transport for Russian liquefied natural gas.

### Centre

- The centre outlets reported that the United Kingdom will send additional Storm Shadow long‑range missiles to Ukraine. They said the weapons are intended for strikes against Russian military targets and to help protect Ukrainian civilian infrastructure before winter. The shipment was discussed during a London meeting between Prime Minister Andy Burnham and President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to Bloomberg.
- ZN.UA said the missiles are built by MBDA, have a range beyond 250 km and fly low, making interception hard. It reported that the United Kingdom has supplied Storm Shadows since 2023, first limiting use to Ukrainian territory, and that permission for strikes inside Russia was granted in November 2024. The article noted the UK opened access to secret production technology in August and that France agreed to licence the system.
- The digests from ANSA, Bloomberg, Eesti Rahvusringhääling and The Kyiv Independent did not mention the cost of the missiles, the differing positions of the British and American governments, or the earlier timeline of UK licences and production access described by ZN.UA. They also omitted the detail that Russia has increased drone and missile production in recent weeks.

### Right

- Iefimerida, Interfax.ru, Korrespondent.net, Protothema, news‑pravda.com, topwar.ru, vz.ru and Yonhap News Agency all reported that the United Kingdom intends to send an additional shipment of Storm Shadow long‑range missiles to Ukraine. Each digest said the plan was discussed during President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to London with the British prime minister, and each cited Bloomberg as the source. The reports also noted the timing as before winter and the purpose of limiting Moscow’s ability to strike energy facilities.
- The digests differ on some details. Iefimerida and news‑pravda.com mentioned strikes deep into Russia, while Protothema added that Patriot‑system missiles had run out. Topwar.ru and vz.ru used slightly different spellings for the British prime minister’s name (Andy Bernem, Andy Berne, Andy Burnham). Korrespondent.net focused on defensive measures against Russian attacks, and Yonhap News Agency simply highlighted continued British support for Ukraine.
- None of the right‑rated digests included a cost estimate, a precise number of missiles, or a detailed delivery schedule beyond the reference to winter. They also did not provide direct quotations from either Ukrainian or British officials, and they omitted any mention of other allied contributions beyond the United Kingdom.
