Cilia Flores, the wife of former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro, is reportedly suffering from a serious heart condition. Her son, Nicolas Maduro Guerra, has stated that Flores has a "very delicate heart condition" and requires surgery. He has publicly appealed for her to be placed under house arrest to receive medical treatment, arguing that the conditions in her New York prison are not suitable for her recovery following an intervention. U.S. authorities have rejected the request for house arrest. Flores is currently detained in a U.S. prison in New York, awaiting trial for drug trafficking. She is reportedly held with approximately 40 other women. ## Disagreement on heart condition description While most reports state Cilia Flores has a "very delicate heart condition," some specify it as a "prolapsed heart" that could lead to heart failure, as reported by Free Malaysia Today News and vz.ru. NTN24 reported that Flores suffered "breathing problems" after prison authorities used pepper spray during a dispute between two women. ## What the coverage left out None of the centre or right-rated reports mention the specific date of Cilia Flores' arrest or the details of the U.S. military operation in which she was captured, as stated in some unrated digests. The specific U.S. charges against Flores were also not detailed in the centre and right-rated reports. ## Who covered it Shares of the 12 covering outlets with a published leaning rating: - Left: 0% (0) - Centre: 25% (3) - Right: 75% (9) 21 of 33 covering outlets carried no usable leaning rating and were excluded from those percentages.
