Conservative candidate Joachim Agou was dropped by the party over social media posts. - The posts included referring to Pakistan as a "sh**hole" and suggesting a driver who hit pro-Palestinian protesters should have reversed. - B.C. NDP candidate Amna Shah called the posts "horrific racism" and urged the party to fire Agou. - B.C. Conservatives leader Lorne Doerkson stated there is "no excuse" for the posts and that Agou would not serve in caucus if elected. The British Columbia Conservative party has removed Joachim Agou as its candidate for the Victoria-Beacon Hill riding. This decision followed the resurfacing of social media posts made by Agou. The B.C. NDP candidate Amna Shah publicly highlighted these posts, labelling them as "horrific racism" and calling for Agou's dismissal. Among the posts that drew criticism was one referring to Pakistan with a derogatory term. Another post suggested that a driver who had struck pro-Palestinian protesters should have reversed their vehicle. Agou was also reported to have reposted content from white supremacists. The B.C. Conservatives leader, Lorne Doerkson, issued a statement saying there was "no excuse" for the remarks and that Agou would not be part of the party's caucus if elected. ## Candidate's response When approached by CTV News, Agou stated he would "look into it" when asked to comment on being dropped by the party and whether he stood by his previous posts. ## What the coverage left out None of the left-rated or centre-rated reports printed below mention whether Joachim Agou still plans to run as an independent candidate after being dropped by the B.C. These reports highlighted that Amna Shah, a B.C. NDP candidate, called the posts "horrific racism" and urged the party to fire Agou. The specific content of the posts, including referring to Pakistan as a "sh**hole" and suggesting a driver who hit pro-Palestinian protesters should have reversed, was frequently mentioned. Several reports noted that Agou had also reposted content from white supremacists. The statements from B.C. Conservatives leader Lorne Doerkson, stating there was "no excuse" for the posts and that Agou would not serve in caucus if elected, were also prominent. Some reports mentioned Agou's background as an engineer and small-business owner from France who came to Canada in 2011, and that it was unclear if he still planned to run. ### Centre - Centre-rated reports focused on the B.C. Conservatives removing candidate Joachim Agou following the emergence of his social media posts. These reports stated that the B.C. NDP had called out the posts as "horrific racism."
