Ilhan Omar will resign from Congress. - Dershowitz suggested Omar's naturalization could be undone and she could be deported. - He argued Omar and her father may have misrepresented her age to qualify for citizenship. - Omar has not been charged with a crime and denies any wrongdoing. Alan Dershowitz, a legal expert, has predicted that Representative Ilhan Omar could resign from Congress and potentially face deportation. Dershowitz suggested that questions surrounding Omar's immigration history and age could lead to her citizenship being revoked if they are proven. During an appearance on Newsmax, Dershowitz stated that Omar might resign to avoid congressional investigations. He argued that the key issue is Omar's date of birth, alleging that she and her father may have misrepresented her age to make her eligible for citizenship through him. Dershowitz claimed she would not have qualified if she had been over 18 at the time. He added that if this were true, her naturalization could be undone, leading to deportation and removal from Congress. Omar has not been charged with any crime and has denied any wrongdoing. Dershowitz suggested that the questions could be settled through a DNA test and records of the birth date Omar has used. He acknowledged that a birth certificate might be unavailable due to the turmoil in Somalia. ## Disagreement on Omar's potential legal standing The Gateway Pundit reported that Dershowitz believes Omar is in "much deeper trouble than she’s willing to admit" and that deportation is a "very real possibility." They also noted that Dershowitz suggested the statute of limitations might not apply because the situation could be classified as an ongoing conspiracy. The other reports do not detail the statute of limitations argument. ## What the coverage left out None of the right-rated digests mention that Ilhan Omar has not been charged with a crime and has denied wrongdoing.
