*Tech billionaire posts on X that Ukrainian president should leave office.*

**Scores for the source reporting** (0-100, assessing the original journalism this article was written from, not this write-up):

- Trust 68 of 100, higher is better. Trust 68: multiple outlets report Musk's X quote, with named source and specific date/location, but no figures.
- Craft 77 of 100, higher is better. Critic 77: explains context, separates fact from comment, provides dates and names, and is clearly written.

**The short version**

- Elon Musk posted on X that "the massacre continues" and that it is "time for Zelensky to leave".
- Musk's comment was a response to a post about an interview Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave to Piers Morgan.
- Several digests claim Musk's comment related to Starlink service limits or US reductions in defence capabilities for Ukraine.
- No left-rated outlets reported on Musk's statement.

Elon Musk posted on the social media platform X that "the massacre continues" and that it is "time for Zelensky to leave". The comments were made in response to a post about an interview Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave to British journalist Piers Morgan. The post suggested Zelensky's main concern was the end of the war and the holding of presidential elections.

## Disagreement on context

Several digests claim Musk's comment related to Starlink service limits or a US reduction of Ukraine's defence capabilities. ANSA reported Musk's comment was in response to a post about Zelensky's interview with Piers Morgan, without mentioning Starlink or US defence capabilities.

## What the coverage left out

None of the centre or right-rated reports mentioned any claims that Musk's comment related to Starlink service limits or US reductions of Ukraine's defence capabilities. The ANSA report, the only full report provided, did not mention these claims.

## Who covered it

Shares of the 46 covering outlets with a published leaning rating:

- Left: 28% (13)
- Centre: 26% (12)
- Right: 46% (21)

75 of 121 covering outlets carried no usable leaning rating and were excluded from those percentages. Coverage measured 2026-10-16T11:00:11.738Z.

**Coverage watch:** developing. Checked 13 times; 2 checks found a material change. Most recently checked 2026-10-16T12:15:31.666Z.

## How the sides framed it

### Left

No separate framing summary.

### Centre

- The centre-rated reports led on Musk's statement that "the massacre will continue" and that "it's time for Zelensky to leave". ANSA, which provided a full report, stated Musk's comment was a response to a post about Zelensky's interview with Piers Morgan. ZN.UA, a digest, noted Musk's intervention and suggested he became part of a chain of comments on Zelensky's statement that Ukrainians are not selling the country.

### Right

- The right-rated reports focused on Elon Musk's call for Volodymyr Zelensky to step down. NDTV's digest stated the row came after Zelensky replied in the affirmative when asked if he felt "betrayed" after US President Donald Trump announced a diesel-supply deal with Moscow. Daily Express digests reported Musk had "dropped a bombshell" on Zelensky. News-pravda.com and topwar.ru digests linked Musk's comments to Zelensky's statement that "this is not the time for holding elections in Ukraine," suggesting the Ukrainian president had no intention of resigning.

**Provisional coverage gap:** left. The watch is not closed, so this is not yet a settled blindspot finding.
