US Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Alpha Bah in New York City on Friday at approximately 3:25 p.m. The arrest concluded a manhunt that began after city authorities released Bah despite federal detainer requests. A Department of Homeland Security official provided details of the operation to Fox News Digital. Bah, who is a Guinean national, faces charges of aggravated assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and fare evasion. ICE had lodged detainers with Queens Central Booking following Bah's arrest on October 7 and a June 2026 fare evasion arrest. DHS officials stated that the city released him without notifying ICE on both occasions. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers located Bah at a temporary New York City residence. Surveillance began around 2:22 p.m. when officers observed a man matching Bah's description with other individuals on a public street where schoolchildren were present. Agents waited until Bah was alone before approaching him, displaying their identification, and confirming his identity. He was then advised of an administrative immigration arrest warrant and taken into custody. ## Disagreement on charges WLTReport stated that ICE's earlier alert identified the suspect and the assault charge while the search was still underway. It also noted that the charges remain allegations and a detainer is a request for notification and a limited hold, not a criminal conviction. Democratic Accent reported that DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated prior to the arrest that Bah was arrested for assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon and that New York City politicians refused to honor ICE's detainer and released him. ## What the coverage left out None of the right-rated reports mention the specific location of Bah's arrest within New York City, other than it being a temporary residence. The full reports from WLTReport and Democratic Accent do not specify the outcome of the aggravated assault charge or any other criminal proceedings against Bah. ## Who covered it Shares of the 8 covering outlets with a published leaning rating: - Left: 0% (0) - Centre: 12% (1) - Right: 88% (7) 2 of 10 covering outlets carried no usable leaning rating and were excluded from those percentages.
