Ilhan Omar. - The questioning occurred after a search of Omar's Washington home on October 12. - Investigators are examining potential immigration fraud involving Omar and her late father. - Ilhan Omar has denied any wrongdoing. Federal investigators questioned Sahra Noor, the sister of US Representative Ilhan Omar, as part of an ongoing investigation into potential immigration fraud. The questioning followed a search of Omar's Washington, D.C. home on October 12. Noor voluntarily spoke with authorities, according to reports citing sources familiar with the investigation. Ilhan Omar has denied any wrongdoing. ## Disagreement on details of the investigation The New York Post reported that federal authorities have obtained DNA samples in an effort to prove allegations that Ilhan Omar married her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 to help him obtain a green card. The Post also stated that evidence gathered from Omar's home, along with information from whistleblowers and government records, provided a basis to seek an indictment on conspiracy to commit immigration fraud charges. The Minnesota US Attorney's Office is leading the immigration investigation into Omar, while DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro is overseeing a separate probe into Omar and her husband's finances. Other reports did not detail the specific allegations being investigated or the evidence obtained. ## What the coverage left out None of the right-rated reports below mention the separate probe into Ilhan Omar and Tim Mynett's finances that the New York Post stated is being overseen by DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro. ## Who covered it Shares of the 22 covering outlets with a published leaning rating: - Left: 5% (1) - Centre: 36% (8) - Right: 59% (13) 5 of 27 covering outlets carried no usable leaning rating and were excluded from those percentages. Ilhan Omar, as part of a Justice Department probe into alleged immigration fraud involving her citizenship paperwork. Each piece notes that the investigation concerns whether false statements were made about her age. - KVIA and KESQ each reproduced a CNN‑Wire story that quoted a source and said the Trump administration had pressed for an aggressive search of Omar’s home before a magistrate limited access. Both noted a warrant issued on 12 October, the question of whether her father misrepresented her age at naturalisation, her arrival as a Somali refugee around age twelve, and that CNN sought comment from Omar’s lawyers and from Noor, receiving none. - Political Wire’s digest summarised the story in a single sentence, stating that Sahra Noor, described as Omar’s older sister, was questioned by authorities amid the criminal probe. The brief note omitted the Trump administration’s role, the October warrant, the citizenship‑age issue, her refugee background and CNN’s attempts to obtain comment, all of which appeared in the KVIA and KESQ reports. ### Right - Right-rated reports focused on the questioning of Sahra Noor and the ongoing federal investigation into Ilhan Omar. The New York Post detailed allegations that Omar married her brother for immigration purposes and reported that federal authorities have obtained DNA samples. It also mentioned a separate probe into Omar's finances. Arab News and The Daily Wire highlighted Noor's questioning following the home search and the immigration fraud probe. RedState and Next News Network also reported on Noor being questioned by federal investigators in connection with the immigration fraud investigation and the raid on Omar's home. **Provisional coverage gap:** left.
