VINnews reported the funds went to a joint fundraising account supporting El-Sayed, the progressive Democratic nominee for Michigan's open U.S. Senate seat, ahead of the Nov. 3 election. The Blaze and Conservative Review described Ocasio-Cortez as a "Democratic socialist" and "firebrand leftist" who "dumped BIG MONEY" into El-Sayed's effort to keep the seat blue against Republican Mike Rogers. RedState characterised the donation as an "eye-popping cash dump" showing "extremist Dems are panicking in Michigan." These reports noted that Senator Gary Peters did not seek re-election in 2026. The Blaze and Conservative Review included a quote attributed to Ocasio-Cortez: "I look forward to working with Abdul ... to build a politics that is free from the corrupting influence of corporate money." **Provisional coverage gap:** left.
