**Scores for the source reporting** (0-100, assessing the original journalism this article was written from, not this write-up):

- Trust 42 of 100, higher is better. Central claim attributed to two advocacy groups; FBI and Justice Department notified; no anonymous sourcing.
- Craft 61 of 100, higher is better. Reports quote or name affected parties and responsible bodies; fact is separate from comment.
- Hype 41 of 100, lower is better. Headlines promise more than the body delivers, with some sensationalism and loaded adjectives.

The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) and the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) reported the attack. No injuries were reported.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the temple. The FBI and the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division have been notified about the incident. HAF stated that it was in contact with temple leaders and providing support. The organization also noted that the attack occurred during a period of increased vitriol directed at the Hindu American community.

## Disagreement on timing

The American Bazaar reported the incident took place on Friday afternoon. The Print stated the attack occurred around 1:30 pm local time, according to HAF. The Statesman also reported the incident occurred around 1:30 pm.

## What the coverage left out

None of the right-rated digests mention the specific time of the attack, which was reported as around 1:30 pm by The Print and The Statesman. The American Bazaar and Indian Express, rated left, also mentioned this timing.

## How the sides framed it

### Left

- The left-rated reports led on the attack at the Shree Swaminarayan Vadtal Dham Hindu Mandir in Richmond Heights. Both The American Bazaar and Indian Express mentioned that bricks were thrown at the building, shattering windows while priests and devotees were inside. The American Bazaar quoted HAF stating, “This possible hate crime comes at a time of unprecedented hate & vitriol directed at the Hindu American community.” Both outlets also noted that the FBI and the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division were notified.

### Centre

- The centre-rated reports from Hindustan Times and The Statesman focused on the vandalism of the Shree Swaminarayan Vadtal Dham Hindu Mandir in Richmond Heights, Ohio, with bricks being thrown and windows shattered. Both reports mentioned the presence of priests and devotees inside the temple at the time of the incident. The Statesman noted the attack occurred around 1:30 pm.

### Right

- The right-rated reports highlighted the brick attack on the Hindu temple in Ohio's Greater Cleveland area, with windows shattered while priests and devotees were inside. News18 India, Firstpost News, and India TV News reported that bricks were thrown at the Swaminarayan Hindu Temple Vadthaldham, breaking windows. The Hindu American Foundation and the Coalition of Hindus of North America condemned the incident, with The Print quoting HAF calling it a 'possible hate crime'. Rediff.com and Latestly also mentioned the condemnation by advocacy groups and the alert to authorities. Organiser.org flagged rising targeted attacks and demanded swift government action.
