**The short version**

- Philippine police found a large quantity of child pornography at the former residence of Thomas Markle.
- Minister of the Interior Jonvic Remulla stated that evidence indicates Thomas Markle may be a sex offender of the worst kind.
- Thomas Markle has denied all allegations against him.
- Meghan Markle has expressed deep dismay regarding the accusations.

Philippine police have discovered a significant amount of child pornography at the former home of Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan Markle. The country's Minister of the Interior, Jonvic Remulla, stated that all signs point to Markle possibly being a sex offender of the worst kind. Thomas Markle has denied the allegations. Meghan Markle has said she is deeply dismayed by the accusations.

## Disagreement on the source of the discovery

Several reports indicate that Thomas Markle's son, Thomas Markle Jr., informed the authorities in the Philippines and the FBI after discovering the material. Other reports state that British tabloids The Sun and Daily Mail reported on Friday that his son Thomas Markle had discovered the stock of child pornography in his father's former residence in the Philippines. One report mentions that Metropolitan police gave a letter to Meghan Markle in 2019 concerning alleged offending involving her father.

## What the coverage left out

None of the left-rated digests mention the specific amount of child pornography found, nor do they detail the forensic examination of any electronic devices. None of the centre-rated digests mention the specific amount of child pornography found. None of the right-rated digests mention the specific amount of child pornography found.
