Women demonstrated in over 20 Polish cities and towns on Thursday to protest the lack of access to legal and free abortions. Activists are rejecting changes to the country's restrictive abortion legislation, which is among the strictest in Europe. The protesters accuse Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government of failing to fulfil campaign promises to relax these laws. ## Disagreement on parliamentary action HuffPost Italy's digest states that the changes to legislation risk being blocked by the Conservative President Nawrocki. My Mother Lode's digest mentions that parliament passed legislation, but does not specify any potential blocking by the president. ## What was left out None of the right-rated reports mentioned the protests or the government's abortion policy. The unrated digest from Gazeta mentioned that members of Parliament would be leaving the Sejm building and quoted Joanna Wicha of the Left stating, "Will women hold us accountable? Certainly." ## Who covered it Shares of the 37 covering outlets with a published leaning rating: - Left: 46% (17) - Centre: 40% (15) - Right: 14% (5) 15 of 52 covering outlets carried no usable leaning rating and were excluded from those percentages. It noted that these changes risk being blocked by the Conservative President Nawrocki. The digest also included an analysis from Daniele Stasi of the University of Rzeszów and stated that interrupting a pregnancy continues to be an "obstacle course." ### Centre - The centre-rated digest from My Mother Lode focused on the widespread nature of the demonstrations, stating women planned street actions in more than 20 Polish cities and towns. It reported that the protesters are accusing Prime Minister Donald Tusk's liberal government of failing to fulfil its promise to relax Poland's strict abortion laws. ### Right - All three right‑rated digests reported that women were protesting across Poland for free legal abortion services, described the laws as among the most restrictive in Europe, and said parliament passed measures this week to require hospitals to treat women in limited circumstances. - None of the digests mentioned the number of protesters, specific cities, statements from activists, cost estimates, or any government response beyond the parliamentary measures, and no quotations from participants or officials appear. ## Factuality profile of the covering outlets These are published factuality ratings of the outlets, not a verdict on whether this story or its claims are true. - mixed: 4 - high: 17 - unknown: 16 - veryHigh: 15 ## Verification scope This page compares coverage and scores the source reporting.
