The People's House museum has redesigned its Oval Office exhibit to reflect the decor Donald Trump selected for his second term. The replica now features polished vases, gold-toned swirling appliqués, 24 portraits in gilded frames, and decorative objects. The museum, located near the White House, recreated the ornate details Trump added to the Oval Office. Luke Boorady, managing director of The People's House: A White House Experience, stated the goal is to make visitors feel more connected to the space, as public White House tours do not include the West Wing. The White House Historical Association created the full-scale replica, which opened in September 2024 and matches the dimensions of the original Oval Office. Visitors often note how compact the room feels in person. A network of specialty designers updated the display by visiting Trump's Oval Office while he was away. Artisans reproduced wall appliqués, while others used 3D scanning and printing to duplicate objects. California craftsmen carved gilded frames by hand for the 24 portraits, and teams recreated vases and other displayed pieces. The replica also includes two mirrors and a reproduction of the Declaration of Independence found in Trump's actual office. Trump has reshaped the White House in his own image, renovating parts of it and leaving a personal imprint. He previously told Time magazine that he would miss the Oval Office most after leaving the White House and had instructed his chief of staff to seek federal landmark status for the remodeled room. The White House Historical Association declined to state the cost of remaking the replica. ## Coverage disagreements The reports do not present any factual disagreements. ## What the coverage left out None of the left-rated or centre-rated reports mention the cost estimate for remaking the replica Oval Office, which the White House Historical Association declined to provide. ## Who covered it Shares of the 12 covering outlets with a published leaning rating: - Left: 33% (4) - Centre: 67% (8) - Right: 0% (0) 0 of 12 covering outlets carried no usable leaning rating and were excluded from those percentages.
