During the event, a protester wearing a "Release the Epstein Files" shirt was punched by another rally attendee and subsequently escorted out. President Trump then commented on the protester's weight, saying, "He’s gotta go on a diet." On the same day as the rally, federal officers executed a search warrant at the Washington, DC-area home of Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, according to a Justice Department spokesperson. Trump, who was campaigning in Ohio, stated he was not involved in the search. ## Disagreement on protester's identity Hollywood Unlocked reported that Trump claimed the protester was a man, but later identified the individual as a woman. Other reports did not specify the protester's gender or stated the protester was wearing a "Release the Epstein Files" shirt. ## Omissions in coverage None of the right-rated digests mention the execution of a search warrant at Ilhan Omar's home. None of the left-rated reports mention Jake Paul joining the rally and speaking. ## Who covered it Shares of the 25 covering outlets with a published leaning rating: - Left: 8% (2) - Centre: 48% (12) - Right: 44% (11) 7 of 32 covering outlets carried no usable leaning rating and were excluded from those percentages. Ilhan Omar. CNN, in its full report, noted Trump's comments about Somali and Haitian communities and his description of Omar as a "disaster" who came from a country "without laws." Both left-rated reports mentioned the physical altercation involving the protester and Trump's subsequent mocking of their weight. CNN also detailed Trump's efforts to link Ohio Senate candidate Sherrod Brown to "Marxists" and "communists." ### Centre - Centre-rated reports highlighted the incident where a protester was punched at the rally and President Trump's reaction. Multiple digests noted Trump's mocking of the protester's weight, with headlines often featuring the phrase "Gotta go on a diet." The execution of a search warrant at Ilhan Omar's home was also reported by these outlets. Some centre-rated digests included details about Trump's campaign focus on shoring up base voters for the GOP and the importance of the Ohio Senate seat. ### Right - Right-rated reports focused on the physical altercation at the rally and President Trump's comments. Headlines and digests frequently mentioned the protester being punched and Trump's remark about their weight. Some reports, like Next News Network, described the protester as a "heckler" and noted Trump called hecklers "scum." The right-rated digests generally did not mention the search warrant executed at Ilhan Omar's home. **Provisional coverage gap:** left.
