A study led by Stanford University researchers found that older adults are far more vulnerable to heat than previously estimated. The research, published in *The Lancet Planetary Health* on 18 August 2026, used new data from wet-bulb experiments conducted on people over 60 in the U.S. to model heat tolerance across age groups.
