News source bias and reliability

Look up a publisher to see whether rating data places it left, centre or right, how its factual reliability is assessed, and which organisation made a rating where the source data names one. Political leaning and factual accuracy are shown separately.

No stories scored yet. Averages appear here once the first articles publish.

Outlet profiles

One page per publisher: the available bias and factual-reliability data, the named rater where one is supplied, ownership, and the record of what we have seen the outlet cover.

New to the subject? Read what media bias means and how to spot it, then use these profiles to check a particular source.

500 publishers we can say at least two things about that are true of them and of no one else — a named rater’s verdict, who owns them, where they publish from, or more than one story of ours they ran. Most-seen first.

Trust and Craft: higher is better. Hype: lower is better. Averages are drawn from the stories we happened to cover, not from an outlet’s full output, so treat small sample sizes with the scepticism they deserve. Method: /methodology. Machine-readable: /api/v1/sources.
