Michael Boulos visits Kerala on private trip, meets US ambassador but not CM

• The two left-rated reports, from The New Indian Express and OnManorama, led on Boulos’s visit as a private trip and detailed the discussions between US Ambassador Sergio Gor and Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan. Both reports quoted the Chief Minister’s Office denying that Satheesan met Boulos. The New Indian Express carried the fullest account, reporting that Satheesan and Gor discussed partnerships in higher education, tourism, culture, investment and maritime logistics, including opportunities linked to Vizhinjam International Seaport and Kochi Port.
• The New Indian Express quoted Satheesan proposing an Invest Desk in the US to connect American companies with opportunities in Kerala. It also quoted Gor saying it was his first visit to Kerala and that he was impressed by the state’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. OnManorama quoted an American Embassy official saying Boulos had come to India for the second time that year to see Gor, his friend of nearly a decade.

No outlet rated centre has run this story so far. We are still checking, and will say plainly if that does not change.

• The seven right-rated digests led on Boulos’s houseboat ride in Alappuzha’s backwaters and the international attention it brought to the region ahead of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. Six of the seven digests quoted a post on X by US Ambassador Sergio Gor welcoming Boulos to Kerala. Republic World, Latestly, Tribune India, aninews.in, India Today and The Hans India all carried the same phrasing: “Welcome back to India Michael Z Boulos! Thrilled to have my friend join me in Kerala.”
• India Today and The Print noted that the Chief Minister’s Office had denied reports of a meeting between Boulos and Satheesan. The Hans India’s digest stated that Boulos had been accorded State Guest status during his stay in Kerala, accompanied by an eight-member delegation. None of the right-rated digests mentioned the topics discussed between Gor and Satheesan.
