The U.S. House of Representatives voted to reject a resolution to impeach President Donald Trump. The measure, introduced by Rep. Al Green, was related to Trump's immigration enforcement policies. The final vote was 232 against 147, with 47 members voting present.

William Lawrence, the Democratic nominee for Michigan's 7th Congressional District, deleted hundreds of old social media posts. The posts included calls for police and prison abolition, nationalizing fossil-fuel companies, and attacking moderate Democrats. Lawrence has since stated some of his past views are out of step with his current beliefs.

The House of Representatives voted to adopt a resolution condemning socialism and the Democratic Socialists of America. The measure passed largely along party lines, though eight Democrats joined Republicans in support. The resolution also included language backing President Trump’s priority voting rights legislation.

Michael Alfonso, son-in-law of former congressman Sean Duffy, secured the Republican nomination for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District on 11 August 2026. The 26-year-old political newcomer was backed by President Trump and will face the Democratic nominee in November.
