Steffen Bilger rules out German car toll but pledges infrastructure overhaul

Steffen Bilger, Germany’s new transport minister, told ARD he has no mandate to introduce a passenger car toll and called Deutsche Bahn’s performance ‘unacceptable’. He cited 300 billion euros for infrastructure and promised improvements by 2029, including at Stuttgart 21, which has cost at least 14.5 billion euros.
