EU irregular border crossings fall 37% in first seven months of 2026, Frontex reports

Frontex recorded 61,000 irregular border crossings into the EU from January to July 2026, a 37% decrease from the same period in 2025. The eastern Mediterranean route remained the most active, while the western Mediterranean saw a 37% increase, excluding the late-July surge at Ceuta.
