On 22 September 2026 the United States, Denmark and Greenland signed a security agreement that permits new U.S. defence zones, expands the Pituffik Space Base and restricts non‑NATO/EU influence in sensitive sectors. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the interest is purely security‑related.
