Israel announced the release of five Lebanese detainees held in southern Lebanon, citing no ties to militant groups, as part of talks to recover remains of Jewish community leaders kidnapped in the 1980s. Only one detainee, Malek Kamal Ghazi, was released on 3 September, with Lebanon reporting receipt of a single prisoner despite earlier assurances.
