U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported Nicaraguan exile Jeffrey Jarquín, a former anti‑government protester who was tortured in prison, back to Nicaragua where authorities immediately returned him to the Modelo prison. The United Nations says over 800,000 people have fled the country, and Human Rights Watch reports 6,300 Nicaraguans were deported in early 2026.
