US and Iran near Strait of Hormuz deal, Pakistan says as Trump demands compensation

Pakistan’s defence minister Khawaja Asif told Bloomberg News on 11 August 2026 that the US and Iran were close to an arrangement over the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump simultaneously demanded compensation from Iran for American casualties and Iranian protesters killed in state crackdowns.
