He and 22‑year‑old Ukrainian Roman Lavrynovych acted on instructions from a Telegram channel offering £3,000 in cryptocurrency for filming the attacks.

Apple removed Telegram from its App Store globally on 4 August 2026 after finding child sexual abuse material, the company said. Telegram was restored hours later after removing the content and banning the user. Regulators in Britain and Australia have previously investigated the platform over similar concerns.
