The average long-term U.S. mortgage rate has risen to 7.28%, the highest in almost three years. September saw a significant slowdown in job creation, with only 29,000 new jobs added, and the unemployment rate edged up to 4.2%. Consumer confidence has also dropped to its lowest level since April 2014.
