East German espionage boosted economy by 7.4%, study finds

A study by the Rockwool Foundation Berlin found that East German economic espionage in the West significantly increased the country's economic output. The research, which used previously inaccessible archives, calculated that industry value creation was 22.3 percent higher due to espionage in 1988.
