Apple launched its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, at its 'Surprise and Shine' event held at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. The company also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. This event marks the first significant product introduction under new CEO John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook earlier in September.

The iPhone Duo is Apple's thinnest iPhone when unfolded, according to the company. John Ternus stated that other foldable phones feel like two devices joined together, and are ill-suited for media consumption. He added that Apple aimed for a device with a large display that feels as natural and intuitive as an iPad. The iPhone Duo is priced from $1999. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1199 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max begins at $1299.

Disagreement on iPhone Duo's size description

While Hindustan Times reported that the iPhone Duo is priced from $2,000, The Korea Times and Deia described the device as being similar in size to a passport. Gadgetpilipinas.net stated it folds to a passport-sized 5.4-inch screen and opens to a 7.6-inch display. Emirates24|7 and Inquirer did not mention the iPhone Duo in their reports, focusing instead on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
